Displays and connectivity

12.3-inch centre display

12.3-inch centre display

The free-standing 12.3-inch tablet combines driver information and centre controls. Its HD touchscreen is designed for low glare and reflections; sensors and infrared film support responsive touch commands.

Smart shortcuts

Smart shortcuts

The welcome screen lets you choose driver support, ambience and music. Navigation, media and phone widgets stay available. Contextual shortcuts appear only when their functions can operate, such as the 360° camera at sufficiently low speed.

Customisable views

Customisable views

Calm view shows essentials including speed, battery and estimated range. Surround adds active support information, such as Pilot Assist, and vehicles ahead. Switch through the display or assign the function to the customisable steering-wheel button.

Snapdragon® Cockpit Platforms

Snapdragon® Cockpit Platforms

Volvo-developed software runs with Qualcomm Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms to support responsive infotainment functions.

Google built-in

Google built-in

Google Maps supplies traffic-aware navigation and EV-route planning. Charging searches can be filtered by speed, price and payment options. Google Play provides music, podcast and audiobook apps. Google Assistant handles supported climate, calling, messaging and audio commands by voice. The Features page includes unlimited data for five years, with fees afterwards. The specifications catalogue separately describes four-year Connect Plus terms; confirm the package applicable to the vehicle.

Over-the-air updates (OTA)

Over-the-air updates (OTA)

Cloud-delivered OTA updates can improve existing functions or add software features without a workshop visit. Regular software updates are free, while optional software packages may also be offered. Schedule updates through the car app. Availability varies by market.

Digital keys

Digital keys

A wallet-based key works with iPhone or a compatible Android phone: hold the device near the roof pillar to unlock, then place it on the wireless charger to drive. Share access by wallet invitation. Higher equipment levels add Digital key plus, with approach recognition, door-handle unlocking, pocket/bag drive-away access and automatic walk-away locking.

Volvo Cars app

Volvo Cars app

The Volvo Cars app supports remote unlocking, digital-key setup, vehicle location, horn/lights, climate preparation, cabin air refresh, charge/range checks, nearby chargers, charging schedules/status and software-update scheduling. Features depend on market/model and may arrive later; remote functions may be unavailable after the car has been parked for an extended period.

Wireless phone integration

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

Connect an iPhone wirelessly and use apps, music and Siri from the display. Wireless Android Auto brings supported Android apps and voice commands to the centre display.

The Features page specifies iPhone 6s or newer with iOS 14 or later and recommends current software. A compatible Android phone and active data plan are required. The overview FAQ separately says iPhone 6 or newer; confirm the current requirements for the selected phone and vehicle.

Comfort and climate

Advanced air purification

An advanced filter removes dust, pollen and harmful PM2.5. When high levels of hazardous outside gases are detected, the air sensor closes the intakes and recirculates cabin air. Use the EX30 app for pre-cleaning and cabin air-quality information before entry.

Multi-zone climate controls

Multi-zone climate controls

The standard one-zone system maintains the selected temperature by adjusting fan speed and distribution, with manual adjustment available. The optional two-zone system separates front occupant temperatures. Departure scheduling in the EX30 app can prepare the cabin, seats and steering wheel.

Device charging

The optional front-console wireless pad accommodates larger phones. Two USB-C ports are provided at the front; an upgrade adds two at the rear. A 12 V outlet in the boot can supply equipment such as an electric cooler, air pump or camping appliance.

Safety and driver support

Collision avoidance systems

The system monitors collision risks involving vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists by day or night. It can issue audible/visual alerts and brake-pulse warnings. Automatic braking can respond to imminent impact or turning across an oncoming vehicle at an intersection; steering assistance may help in certain situations.

Driver alert system

An infrared steering-column sensor observes eye/head movement and blinking. Road-camera information and steering-wheel sensing are analysed with this to identify possible distraction or drowsiness and prompt the driver to focus or rest.

Door opening alert

Rear radars detect cyclists and scooters approaching from behind when a door may be opened. Initial centre-display/steady BLIS warnings escalate to sound and a flashing BLIS light when the risk becomes imminent.

Pilot Assist

Pilot Assist can support lane changes when space and time allow, with the driver holding the wheel. It can increase lateral space beside large vehicles or centre the car between trucks. Speed and following-distance support can stop with traffic and resume after a brief stop. If an unresponsive driver ignores escalating prompts, the car may stop. Remain attentive and engaged throughout.

Park Pilot Assist

The system can steer, accelerate and brake for parking, including parallel parking. At up to 22 km/h it can search for spaces and show choices on the display. Select a space, supervise the manoeuvre and take over if conditions change.

360° camera

Surround cameras provide a high-resolution bird’s-eye view that can appear automatically in reverse or near an obstacle at low speed. Upgrade options include split 360°/180° viewing and a 3D view.

Drive modes

Drive modes

Default mode balances driving response, comfort and consumption. Range mode adjusts performance and climate for efficiency. Performance mode changes motor, steering and braking response. Volvo’s generic AWD statement applies only if a car has AWD; the P5 powertrain listed here is RWD.

These functions support safe driving and do not justify distraction or unsafe/illegal driving. Cross-traffic alert can be limited in some circumstances. The driver remains responsible for vehicle operation, attention and judgment.

Charging solutions

Top up on time

Top up on time

At 20% charge, a reminder can offer nearby public stations on the centre display. Choose one for turn-by-turn guidance, arrival time and predicted charge on arrival.

Charge more efficiently

Charge more efficiently

Choosing a charging station as the destination enables battery pre-heating or pre-cooling towards an appropriate charging temperature, supporting charging speed and efficiency.

Rapid charging

Rapid charging

Volvo quotes 27 minutes for 10–80% at a fast public station. A Volvo home wallbox can charge up to five times faster than an ordinary household socket. Charging can be started/stopped, scheduled and monitored on the wallbox and smartphone. Preliminary estimate at a 175 kW DC station. Temperature, equipment, battery and vehicle condition affect charging time. Certification pending.

Bi-directional charging

Bi-directional charging

The battery can power appliances such as e-bikes, tools, audio systems or cooking equipment. Additional hardware is needed, such as Volvo’s specially designed V2L adapter.
